HOD's Statement

The department of Computer and Robotics Education, University of Nigeria, Nsukka began as a unit domiciled in the then Department of Vocational Teacher Education, with the task of training teachers that will teach computer studies in schools and professionals in computer hardware maintenance, Information Technology, software application and programming.

Computer Education unit further launched her Master’s and PhD programmes in 2003 and has graduated many students at the Masters level and at the Ph.D level. The unit award postgraduate degrees in Hardware Maintenance, Software Development /Application, and Networking and Communication, and Robotics Education

Brief History

The Department of Computer Education was created in 1985, while the Robotics component was added in July, 2015, under the administration of Vice – Chancellor, Prof. B.C. Ozumba.  This department of Computer & Robotics Education is aimed at establishing four main programs at the postgraduate level, namely:

  1. Hardware maintenance,
  2. Software development,
  3. Multimedia design,
  4. Database management
  5. Networking

The department has the vision of providing the needed workforce for teaching computer studies at the secondary schools, technical colleges, Colleges of Education and Polytechnics as well as IT firms. Our mission is to meet our students’ needs in the most appropriate manner.
